About the GMAT

The Graduate Management Admission Test® or GMAT  is a standardized assessment used by business schools to assess your qualifications for advanced study in Business and Management. In a way, it is used as a predictor of your academic performance in an MBA program.

Scoring high on your GMAT increases your chances of admission into top business schools, while scoring low…well, it’s better not to focus on that.

When you think about the impact the GMAT can have on your career, it’s not surprising that some people spend anywhere from 3 to 6 months in preparation for the actual test date.

Your GMAT score is valid for five years, which means you can take it right after college then use it for grad school later on, after you’ve gained some real life work experience.  You are allowed to take the GMAT again if you don’t succeed on your first go but keep in mind that all your “do-over” scores from the past 5 years will appear in your Official Score Report.

The GMAT measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills that you’ve developed in the course of your education and work. It doesn’t measure your specific knowledge from whatever undergraduate course you took up, your knowledge of business, or your job skills. It doesn’t account qualities like motivation, creativity and interpersonal skills.

But despite all that, it’s still used as an objective standard of your fitness to pursue post graduation in business and management. No wonder preparing for the GMAT can be so stressful for someone who hasn’t stepped inside a classroom in years. You might be a brilliant manager in the real world but when it comes to the GMAT, nothing matters except the numbers in black and white.

Speaking of numbers, the Math section of the GMAT is unquestionably the part where most examinees struggle.  Even if you feel your math skills are up to scratch for an MBA, you’ll have to deal with timed questions on the GMAT. You’ll be given only 2 minutes to answer each question in the math section so taking too long to get all the answers right will amount to failure in more ways than one.

This is where The GMAT Coach” can help you. Our success rate at getting our enrollees through the GMAT with proverbial “flying colors’ has proven our assertion that the best way to speed up calculations is to eliminate the need to perform calculations in the first place.

Ultimately, GMAT is designed to test whether you can analyze a complex problem and find simple but effective solutions. You don’t need to be a mathematical genius to be a great manager, but you do need to know how to analyze a problem so you can deal with it. That’s what we teach and that’s why your success is guaranteed.

The GMAT is designed to assess your mathematical, verbal and analytical writing skills. Again, it measures your ability to apply knowledge, rather than the amount of knowledge you have. It is a computer-based test and contains both multiple-choice and essay questions. For more information on the GMAT, including how to register and prepare for the test, visit
